A visit runs two to eight hours — these are afternoons, not fifteen-minute drop-ins. Whatever the plan, the companion is paid 80% of what you're charged, and you see the whole price before you confirm.

What we will never do to your bill.
Charge more than the quote
The total is fixed when you confirm. If a visit runs long because you asked for more time, you approve the change first — at $40 an hour or your member rate, never a penalty rate.
Bill before the visit happens
Your card is authorised near the visit and charged after it ends. A serious incident pauses both the charge and the companion's payout until a person has looked at it.
Hide the tax or the fees
GST/HST appears as its own line before you confirm, not as a surprise on the statement.
Questions families ask first
Can I start without a membership?
Yes — Essential costs nothing to join and bills per visit. Most families book a couple of visits that way before deciding whether a weekly rhythm is right.
What happens to hours I don't use?
They don't roll over. A month with no visits still costs the membership fee, which is why Essential exists — if visits are genuinely occasional, pay per visit instead and keep the $0 plan.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Change or cancel from the family app at any time. A change takes effect at your next billing date; you keep the hours you've already paid for until then.
Do companions get tips, and do you take a cut of them?
Tips are optional and companions keep all of one. On the visit itself the companion is paid 80% of what you're charged.
Is this covered by insurance or a health plan?
Not today. Companion care is non-medical, so it's usually a private expense. We're working on employer and health-plan sponsorship, which is how some families in the US cover this kind of visit.
